burning smile

1000 wise men work for one stupid one.

you’ve suffered enough in life. take advantage of what god gave you.

you see, the whole story of this world is money.

think hard, always. the world is at your command.

those are direct transcriptions from one of my dad’s long-distance lectures some year and a half or so ago.

i had just quit my job (which i’ve just done again). i was planning on taking time off to re-evaluate my game plan (ditto). my poor dad was just tired of watching me struggle.

when offering advice, he starts every line with “you see…” or “let me tell you something…” or “we have a saying back home…” or “my father used to tell us…” i think he thinks that i’m not listening. little does he know that i’m actually taking notes and that i keep the especially relevent ones on the bulletin board above my desk. little does he know that these are the moments i am going to miss most once he’s gone.

i’m trying, daddy. i’m trying to figure out just what it is i want to ask of this world. i think i have an idea. and i’m going to go for it.

here’s a rough mix of the song i sang yesterday. if you click on the link, it will open in another page. if you right click or apple click, you can download or open it in a new window/tab. it’s better, trust me.
